Ahhh....after living in Germany for years, observing the stringent rules regarding obtaining a license there, enjoying driving amongst people who actually focused on driving and following common sense, and then returning to the U.S., I've been a frustrated driver for the past ten years. It's not that there are not mostly decent drivers here, it's that there are so many bad drivers. Whether it's ineptitude or just plain absent-mindedness, these people seem to be everywhere clogging the road - or worse - imposing their "one man auto-vigilantism" on the rest of us. Playing stupid games instead of cooperating. Taking offense by anybody passing them...so long as they are "doing the speed limit" Oh well. In this article from the National Motorists Association, Eric Peters explains why speed limits do not equate to safety.
